A long journey
While the concept of Multipraktik is relatively new, its roots trace back to a different yet equally fascinating domain—the production of table tennis blades. The path has been anything but straightforward, marked by unexpected twists, challenging moments, and periods of growth. Throughout it all, the journey remained adaptable and open to new opportunities. We aim to preserve flexibility and an open mind, valuing them as key strengths that continue to drive us forward.

How it all began
In 1983, in Senta, Yugoslavia, Béla Széll began crafting table tennis blades as a small garage venture. What started as a modest project quickly gained recognition, and within a few years, the garage evolved into a full-fledged OEM workshop. The blades produced there soon became sought after by top European and Japanese table tennis brands. In 1992, amid the outbreak of civil war in Yugoslavia, the workshop relocated to Kiskőrös, Hungary. Since then, it has operated as a 100% family-owned company for over three decades.
Raw material in new form
Since the blades are produced for professional players, only the highest quality raw materials are used in the manufacturing process. The wood veneers are specially sourced and produced by the best European producers and suppliers. A competition-grade table tennis blade is essentially a 5- or 7-ply panel with a solid veneer-block handle—simple in form, but demanding in precision. Combine premium materials with decades of know-how, add a bit of experimentation and a lot of care, the result is what we call Multipraktik plywood.

A new chapter in Vác
In 2024, we made an important move—relocating our workshop to Vác, Hungary. Being closer to both our home and to Budapest makes us more accessible to design professionals and students, opening up new opportunities for collaboration, learning, and exchange.
We’re happy to have found what feels like a true home for Multipraktik: a space that’s not only fully equipped for our work but also invites new ideas, partnerships, and dreams. It’s more than just a workshop—it’s a place for growth, for making, and for meeting others.
We hope Multipraktik will continue to thrive here and welcome all who are curious to discover what we do.

Exhibitions and fairs
Over the years, we have showcased our work at a range of prestigious design events, both in Hungary and internationally. Highlights include the Stockholm Furniture Fair, BIG SEE Design Festival in Ljubljana, and Milano Design Week. In Hungary, we regularly exhibit at Construma Budapest, 360 Design Budapest, and various other local design platforms. We believe in the importance of personal encounters, where visitors can experience the tactile quality and craftsmanship of our products firsthand.

Our story
For a long time, we never imagined that our shared life would one day evolve into shared work. Our first project together—a pair of speakers—was more of a playful experiment than a serious plan. Over time, we began to look at the materials around us differently. We started experimenting with veneers, discovering their potential beyond tabletennis blades and classic marquetry. In 2021, we gave a name to what we had been casually doing as an artist and an economist: Multipraktik. What began as a side project has grown into our full-time occupation. Our curiosity for unconventional, high-quality furniture, our love for hands-on making, and our passion for experimenting with surfaces and materials naturally brought us here.
Multipraktik is not just about objects or patterns—it's about collaboration. We aim to build a workshop and a team where diverse perspectives and skills come together to create something new, thoughtful, and unexpected. Because working, learning, and creating together is simply good.
